My favorite part of the job as a newsman has always been about people and events, getting in close to real life happenings, bearing witness to the simple and the sublime, to heartache and triumph. My Photo-J professor at Kent State University, Charlie Brill, said we owed it to our readers to: "Get inside the inside.” As photojournalists, we would have great access, he said. "Don't waste it by taking ordinary pictures."
